Light Blogging Today.....

It's been a busy time here in the South Moravian metropolis. Working on a few things for the Big Paper, but also took some time to enjoy the koniklece and the Brno Spring (which was very nice at the beginning of the week, but has turned rather windy, dark, and cold in the past couple days) and watch Kometa Brno.

And that is something worth blogging about. Kometa has been playing fantastic hockey, and the team is one win away from the Extraliga finals. As a #8 seed, they were expected to quietly be sent home by Big Bad (and Rich!) Sparta Prague. They won that series 4-2. Now, this semifinal series against second-seeded Plzeň has been just amazing, and Kometa will try to sweep tonight. It's a home game.

Game 3 last night was a squeaker, and Brno eked out* a 1-0 victory with an top-shelf 5-on-3 goal from Róbert Petrovický. A couple minutes later, a Plzeň shot banged off the far post and into the back of Kometa gólman Jiří Trvaj, but the incredible shot failed to find the back of the net. So far, Kometa has won every game this series by one goal, but they seem to be winning by being just a little better and by being just a little luckier. It's a dangerous combination for opposing teams.

*If it was a squeaker, shouldn't that be "eeked out?"
