To write something

It's been an awful day for the USA. I'm not that strong, so I used it as a pretext to start drinking. And that definitely succeeded in making me more sad. But before that, I decided, particularly in light of the corona shit, to call a friend. Which was afterall itself a way to deal with the sad lonely usual.

The funny thing is that when I called him up, we were both wound up about the events in Washington, and afterall that was the spur for that call. We talked about it with great agitation and frustration for a good five minutes, maybe even six. After all, it was a big deal, right? A President rallied his people onto the Capitol to overturn the election results. We should be concerned! It's worth a call!

But somehow the Very Important Topic quickly shifted away to the universal and particular problems of fatherhood. And according to the clock, apparently that requires more time to discuss. If I do the math, my kids and Christmas are together 10 times more important.

How does one reconcile these numbers? What hellish bookkeeper counts the minutes of conversations and Reliable Senate Votes? The rounds discharged and the diapers at night?
